Allium Schubertii is also called tumbleweed onion and it grows beautiful, ornamental star-shaped flowers that widely spread and grow on different lengths in a beautiful purplish-pink colour. This allium is a native from Asia and has an aroma of an onion if it’s cut. Allium Schubertii is a fantastic transition between the spring and the summer as it blooms between May and June. When fully grown, it reaches 40-50 cm in length.
Allium belongs to the same family as garlic and onion, that is why it’s called an “ornamental onion”. Make sure to plant your allium in a dry and well-drained (sandy) soil and open areas with full sun.
